Peach Politics Is Back!
Jan. 26, 2021
Civic engagement is a powerful value in the Jewish community. Join our panel of legislators and experts as we discuss the 2021 Georgia Legislative session, health care, the budget, and review advocacy strategies during the pandemic.
Health care has become a key issue as the state takes on the systematic and economic challenges from the pandemic, the vaccine rollout and the health care discrepancies that have been undeniably exposed with the COVID-19 outbreak. Join Senators Blake Tillery (R) and Jen Jordan (D), Representative Mary Margaret Oliver (D) and Sharon Cooper (R), and Laura Colbert from Georgians for a Healthy Future as we discuss the most pressing concerns about health care in our state and the impact the budget will have on the pandemic response, Medicaid expansion, rural health care and maternal and infant health. James Salzer from the AJC will moderate.
Resources and Presenters include:
- Sen. Blake Tillery (R)
- Sent. Jen. Jordan (D)
- Rep. Mary Margaret Oliver (D)
- Rep. Sharon Cooper (R)
- Digital engagement resource including information on healthcare advocacy, tips for engaging with legislators and standard language for emails and social media.
Even as we are recovering from the national election and the dramatic runoff for the Georiga Senate seats, we are preparing for engaging with the most pressing community issues here in Georgia as the 2021-2022 Georgia Legislative Assembly kicks off in January. As we explore the concerns around healthcare, we are also watching closely the conversations and bills around voting access and criminal justice reform. Register in the dates below.
Let your voice be heard! On Tuesday, February 23, JCRC and Repair the World will be hosting a phonebanking session to contact state legislators about voting access and integrity as well as any other issues you feel strongly about.
